One weird thing is I actually thought I would be picking Archie as an underdog last night. Shows what I know.
Now for some thoughts from last night's show ...
- Was anyone else hoping that they would actually fight each other with those boxing gloves? David Cook looked ready to throw some punches. Archie looked like he was swatting at butterflies. Poor kid. All of the tough photo opportunities where they were supposed to look competitive had Cook looking serious and Gaspy with a smile on his face.
- How was it that I actually enjoyed "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me" and didn't fall asleep? Archie really did bring his A game.
- Did anyone else hear Randy say something about this being the year 2007? It isn't, is it?
- As Simonsays said, it was very entertaining to watch Paula turn every song title into a compliment. Cook's first song got "You still haven't found what you're looking for - but we have." She told Archie that the sun is not going to go down on him. I figured that she was going to do it for every song, but they must have edited that part out. In order that you will not be deprived of some of Paula's comments - here they are for the other songs (in my best estimation).

I had to watch the dang show on Youtube because the power was out last night...but even on youtube with its crappy quality the winner was pretty obvious.
Help! I am confused. Do we give points to the one we think is the winner? Paging Paulatics...
Also, don't vote for Luke Menard. Not to make you feel bad for making him a possibility, just read that he was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma and is in the hospital!
It always gets confusing this week - but still give the points to the person you think will be "voted off". So Thaddeus' pick above will give him 10 points if Archie does not win.
Will post later but wanted to tell you that in an attempt to keep me from playing Jason Castro tunes, Mr. IdolSmith made a playlist with only Mr.& Mrs.Commish & Zebra Fight songs and has been playing it 24/7! His brainwashing is working because I am listening to it now and haven't even thought about "Travelin Thru" in 15 minutes.
TJ, you go right ahead flattering the Commish & Co., but I don't think it's going to get you any preferential treatment!! (Is it?)

In my opinion, Archie wiped the floor with Cook last night. I hate to say it. However, I think it's time for a surprise upset. Plus, Cook cried.

Still in London and have seen none of the finale. Bummer. Heading to Bath tomorrow after the students go home. Has been a great trip. Thank you Commish and Mrs. Commish.. i know you are busy, but you have taught us all about good priorities. Team 35, thank you for giving Mr. Hasselhoff another reason to don his gorilla costume. Now maybe he won't wear it at home for a few weeks.
I have to say that I was caught up in all of it and thought Don't let the sun go down on me was the best song choice of the season. Archie gets to me even though the songs never make it to his face.

Tonight my Tivo for some reason didn't record the finale! The only show it hasn't recorded since I've owned it, and it had to be the durn finale. I say again, NOOOOOOO!
Also, I just heard who won, which makes me want to say NOOOOOO! Because I had a gut feeling that Cook would win, but voted the other way. NOOOOOOOO.

Just had to say that one of you songwriters need to help Carrie Underwood pick betters songs. Get her back on Jesus and Him taking the wheel..she's slipping into the dark side, got to blaming her wild nights on tequila like all those country singers do. Help her get back on track! Her outfit was like the one Dolly Parton wore, only without the leggings. I did not like her sleazy country rap song. Sure hope no one I know wrote that song...
